Chief Justice’s mother dies

Asia Akhter Khatun, the mother of Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, died of old-age complications on Sunday. She was 95. Asia Akhter breathed her last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital at about 5 pm. She left behind her two sons, five daughters and a host of relatives to mourn her death. Her 1st namaz-e-janaza is scheduled to be held at Circuit House Jam-e-Mosque in the city after Esha prayers on Sunday. She will be buried at Pumdi village in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj district following second janaza on Monday, said Supreme Court registrar AKM Shamsul Islam. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Asia Akhter Khatun. In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family members. –UNB, Dhaka.
