Miscreants set fire to a covered van carrying chicks in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj on Wednesday night during the ongoing 48-hour countrywide blockade.
Shahjadpur police station’s Officer-in-charge (OC) Khairul Bashar said that the chicks-laden covered was going to Pabna from Gazipur’s Sreepur on Wednesday night.
The arsonists set fire to the vehicle when it reached Tetiarkanda area under the upazila around 10 pm, burning all the chicks, he said.
Later, members of Fire Service and Civil Defence doused the flame, the OC said adding that the covered van driver also sustained burn injuries.
A case was filed in this connection and efforts are on to identify the arsonists, the police officer added.
