Cheque fraud: Ex-additional IGP Shamsuddoha arrested in Dhaka

Police have arrested former Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shamsuddoha in a cheque fraud case on Sunday, September 7.

He was detained at his resort, Wonderland Green Park, in Nawabganj, Dhaka.

Nawabganj Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Mominul Islam, confirmed that Shamsuddoha was produced before the court after his arrest.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had filed a charge sheet against Shamsuddoha and his wife, Ferdousi Sultana, in a case alleging illegal wealth accumulation.

According to the charge sheet, the couple is accused of concealing information and illegally acquiring assets worth Tk 66.48 crore, ACC sources said.

The charge sheet was submitted in July last year by case investigation officer Khorshed Alam, Assistant Director of the ACC, to the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Asamach Jaglul Hossain.
