Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a cheat and recovered 33 passports, fake doctor’s certificate and visiting cards from the city’s Malibag area under Rampura Police station on Thursday.
The detainee has been identified as Afzal Hossain alias Amzad Hossain alias Milan, son of late Syed Afsar Uddin, from Bogabaid under Jamalpur District.
Acting on a tip off, DB police raided a flat of Malibag area and arrested the accused and recovered 33 passports. Of the passports, three were issued in his three fake names, a fake doctor certificate with prescription pad and some visiting cards of different doctors and engineers.
Sources said, the accused, his wife and two daughters live in USA since they are the citizens of that country. Some days ago, he came to Bangladesh for family matter but could not return to the USA due to his passport and visa complicacy.
At this, he decided to manage more passports in different names with the help of passport brokers and visited several Asian countries. But he was unable to get the American visa.
The accused some times identified himself as doctor and other time as engineer
and thereby cheated people. For that reason, he kept visiting cards of few doctors and engineers.
Md Khurshed Alam, a DB Official said, we arrested him for passport forgery. DB police is interrogating him to know how did he manage so many passports.
A case was filled with the Rampura Police Station in this connection.
