Chaotic traffic plagues Chattogram port which plays a vital role in the country’s economy.
The principal seaport of Chattogram Port is contributing the important role in country’s economy since long . Different kinds of transports are running without the port complex .
To run the port activities smoothly, every transport should obey the existing traffic rules . It is seen very recently that trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles are violating the traffic rules regarding registration of transports .
It is also experienced recently that transports inside the port premises are parking hapazardly and driving by assistants and helpers and thus caused severe incidents regularly.
To return the dynamism of the port activities, mobile court enforced on October 8 and 9 last. In two days, penalty realised Tk.3.73 crores. On October 8, ten transports were fined Tk.3 lakh and the next day October 9, realised Tk.70 thouasand from 7 transports Tk.3thousand fined to one trailer for being driven by the helper, sources said.
