Chance for higher edu in Pakistan for BD students

The High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, met with the Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University (BRU) in Rangpur, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali, for a courtesy visit and exchange of views.

The meeting, held on Thursday morning at the Syndicate Room of the administrative building, focused on bilateral cooperation in the fields of higher education and research.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof highlighted that there are nearly 300 scholarships available for Bangladeshi teachers, researchers, and students at higher education and research institutions in Pakistan. He also mentioned that students from Begum Rokeya University will have opportunities for higher education and research in Pakistan.

When the Vice-Chancellor expressed interest in establishing academic ties with Pakistani educational institutions, the High Commissioner emphasised the importance of further cooperation in this regard. The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the Pakistani delegation, led by the High Commissioner, to the campus of the university in Northern Bangladesh.

He briefed the guests on the university’s academic and administrative activities. Professor Dr. Shawkat Ali stated that the university is committed to carrying out academic activities in a well-structured, efficient, and conducive environment, while also engaging in collaborative educational and research activities with universities both at home and abroad.

He expressed interest in increasing cooperation between universities in the two countries, launching joint research projects, conducting publication activities, organizing academic workshops and seminars, and facilitating educational exchange programs.

Present at the meeting were Kamran Dangal, the Political Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission, and Zain Aziz, Trade and Investment Attaché. Other attendees included the Deans of various faculties, including Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rahman (Dean of the Faculty of Arts), Professor Kamalesh Chandra Roy (Dean of the Faculty of Science), Professor Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology), Professor Dr. Md. Emadul Haque (Dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Sciences), Professor Md. Ferdous Rahman (Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies), Professor Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam (Director of IQAC), Registrar Dr. Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Office Professor Dr. Mot. Ilyas Pramanik, Proctor Ferdous Rahman, along with faculty members, students, and staff from various departments.

At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor presented a souvenir to the Pakistan High Commission delegation. Later, the delegation visited the Begum Rokeya Memorial Center in Mothapur, Mithapukur, Rangpur.
