Chairman Mandela announces MP bid in Kulaura

Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary election, Prithimpasha Union Parishad Chairman M. Jimiur Rahman has announced that he will contest the MP post as an independent candidate from the Moulvibazar-2 Kulaura constituency.

On Saturday morning, around 1,020 people gathered at the village home of Chairman Jimiur Rahman in Sultanpur village of Prithimpasha Union to participate in a meeting held in support of his candidacy.

The meeting focused on his acceptance as an MP candidate, people’s expectations, and plans for the development of the area.

In a view-sharing session chaired by Aklasur Rahman and moderated by Prithimpasha Union member Syed Abdul Ahad, Jimiur Rahman Chowdhury Mandela addressed the gathering.

He said that the 13th National Parliamentary election is fast approaching, and the meeting was organised to seek public support and opinions for his independent candidacy in Moulvibazar-2 Kulaura constituency.

He added, “During my tenure as Union Chairman, I have not received any government honours or personal benefits. If elected as an MP, I will develop Kulaura as a modern, model, and terror-free upazila.

I also pledge to distribute my personal income and government honorarium among the people.”

Mawlana Aslam Hossain Rahmani, Sylhet divisional coordinator of the Islamic Unity Alliance, also spoke at the meeting.

Other attendees included prominent social workers and local leaders such as A.F. Alam Chowdhury, UP member Monir Ahmed, businessman and retired teacher Kamal Ahmed Chowdhury, retired soldier Syed Mohammad Ali, social worker Kabir Ahmed Chowdhury Sumon, former BDR member Taimus Ali, social worker Makhlisur Rahman, Koyshar Ahmed, Jamir Ali, Amir Ali, Mamunur Rashid, and tea worker representative Gopal Babu.
