Centre forms body to probe JnU BCL controversies

The Central Body of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) formed a two-member probe body to investigate the recent controversy of the JnU Chhatra League over its involvement in the question leaks, tender business, and extortion.

A press release, signed by BCL Office Secretary Meftahul Islam Panth, was handed to the press on Thursday.

According to the press release, the Central Executive Body of the Bangladesh Chhatra League formed a two-member probe body for a fair investigation into the context of the situation arising in the Jagannath University unit. The probe body members include Vice President Tahsan Ahmed Rasel and Joint General Secretary Abdullah Hil Bari of the central body of BCL.

The committee has been directed to submit the probe report to the orgnization’s office within the next 7 days.
Meanwhile, Awami League Joint General Secretary Bahauddin Nashim said that since the central leaders of the Chhatra League have learned about the matter, they will investigate and take action. The claim must be verified. If there is truth, action must be taken against the Chhatra League leader who did it.

He also said, “No party or organisation is responsible for an individual’s fault. If there is a crime, it is his fault. No Chhatra League leader can ever be associated with the tender trade. The Chhatra League will do student politics. We will do politics as per the rules.”

Earlier, SM Akter Hossain, general secretary of Jagannath University Chhatra League, was accused of leaking medical questions. The other allegations against the JnU unit include not being able to form a full-fledged committee in two and a half years, controlling all tenders at Jagannath University under the president Ibrahim Farazi and general secretary Akter Hossain; and extortion at Sumona Hospital in the Sadarghat area.
