Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, a leading figure in the July uprising and spokesman
for the Inqilab Mancha, breathed his last at around 9:45pm on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore.
Hadi was seriously wounded in a gunshot to the head by terrorists during an election campaign in Purana Paltan in Dhaka on December 12. This brave young leader succumbed to his injuries after battling death for six days. The sudden death of Hadi has left the entire country stunned.
The shadow of grief has also fallen on the country’s showbiz scene. Since the news of Hadi’s death spread, popular celebrities of the country have expressed their condolences and protest through emotional posts on social media.
Actress Nusrat Imroz Tisha paid tribute to Hadi by posting a picture. She wrote, “Martyr Osman Bin Hadi will remain a symbol of our independence and sovereignty.”
TV actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak is shocked by the death of Hadi. She wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Remember the name, Shaheed – Bir Sharif Osman Hadi.” Later, in a long post, the actress raised questions and spoke about various sensitive issues.
Chamak wrote, “He (Hadi) was not an MP-minister, he did not usurp anyone’s rights, he did not do injustice to the common people.
Yet – because of a small word, a life can end like this? For which freedom of speech, so many movements, so many slogans – where does that freedom stand today? Does dissent mean punishment? Is asking questions a crime? Today Hadi, who tomorrow? This question is now, the time to look back at ourselves.
I have never seen Hadi face to face. I have no blood relation with him. I’m not affiliated with any political party. Yet today my mind is wandering, a deep discomfort.” Finally, she mentioned, Sharif Osman Hadi (1993 – Infinity).
Model and actress Peya Jannatul expressed her condolences to the family of Hadi and wrote, “This is truly heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. May Allah grant him the highest rank in Jannat, and grant his grieving family, especially his little child, patience, strength and comfort.
Whoever he is, we want a future where politics is good, humane and responsible, where the value of human life comes first. Such loss of life should never become normal.”
Actor Nasir Uddin Khan wrote, “I pray for the forgiveness of Osman Hadi’s soul. May his family, his little baby overcome this grief. May political ill will, political revenge, and political instability be eradicated. May peace return to the country, O merciful one.”
Director Ashfaque Nipun wrote, expressing his respect for Osman Hadi. He wrote, “Osman Hadi, rest in peace. May Allah grant you Jannat and give strength to your family and newborn. They may have killed you but they cannot stop the fight you started. The killers must be brought to justice!”
Meanwhile, protests, processions and arson attacks are taking place in various parts of the country over the death of Osman Hadi. Celebrities have expressed concern, especially over the attacks on media offices.
In this regard, Ashfaque Nipun wrote, “The language of protest against the untimely death of martyr Hadi can’t be vandalism and anarchy.
At this moment, everyone needs to be united. Those who want to create chaos in the country have different intentions. Don’t fall into their trap and risk the country’s resources and future!”
Expressing her grief over the fire at the media office, Peya Jannatul wrote, “This is breaking my heart. Fire can destroy buildings, but courage cannot. Prothom Alo and The Daily Star will live on in the hearts of people.”
She also wrote with surprise and regret, “Tomorrow, the arson will be discussed in the world media, but what was supposed to come was Hadi, his heroism, and the trial of the murder.
When people die in this country, even grief is not safe. Everything is covered up – in fire, vandalism, politics. Here, the color of blood is political. Revolutions are always being disrupted here, we are always helpless here.”
