Azmeri Haque Badhan, Actress At a time when the entire nation had fallen into a dire state, the July mass uprising was inevitable. The government’s injustices had reached their peak. The way they indiscriminately opened fire, carried out mass arrests, and tortured people will go down in history as a dark chapter. The July uprising is one of the most significant events of my life. Being directly involved in the movement, I witnessed both the government’s brutality and the protesters’ resilience up close. This uprising gave me the courage to stand with the people of my country. The boundless love I received from ordinary people during this time will remain with me forever. The public’s expression of joy at the fall of the regime was a sight to behold. This movement will continue to awaken the nation with a new spirit for generations.
Nawshaba Ahmed, Actress
The July mass uprising is a new chapter in history. During that time, no one’s life was safe. Indiscriminate killings, arrests, and torture forced people to take to the streets. I was a student at Dhaka University. Although I was busy with my personal life, I naturally kept up with the student protests. The torture inflicted upon them deeply pained me. The country’s situation kept deteriorating. Many mothers lost their children for no reason. The students and public turned into protesters. Eventually, I too joined the movement. The regime fell. The July uprising buried an era of injustice and misrule. It was our victory.
Jeetu Ahsan, Actor
This is no story-I’ve seen the July mass uprising with my own eyes. I had never seen such scenes of indiscriminate killings and attacks on women and children since my birth. Even small children were not spared from the fascist government’s brutal grip. Near my house in Dhanmondi 27, college student Farhan Faiyaz was shot and killed. I’ve always been inactive on Facebook, but I couldn’t stay silent after witnessing such cruelty. One particular moment struck me hard-a girl was brutally beaten and bloodied by fascist forces. Despite all her efforts to escape, she begged for her life. It was chilling. The regime’s excesses were so extreme that its downfall became inevitable. The cries of the oppressed and the blood of the martyrs never go in vain.
Muhin, Singer
I didn’t witness the Liberation War of 1971, but I saw the July movement of ’24. At that point, there was no alternative to mass uprising. The government had pushed the country into a breaking point. The July movement stood against the fascist regime, aiming to restore the people’s rights and resist injustice. Alongside students, people from all walks of life, regardless of political affiliation, took to the streets for the nation’s sake. Everyone’s life was at risk. That time was terrifying. People were shot and killed indiscriminately. Countless were injured, and many became permanently disabled. The fall of fascism came at the cost of much blood and life. The July movement was a turning point to end all injustice and build a better Bangladesh.
