Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has announced planting of 1 million trees to restore environmental balance in the city.
Mayor made this announcement at a tree plantation drive organized by the Baklia Kalpalok Residential Area (2nd Phase) Plot Owners Welfare Association at the Kalpalok Residential Area playground on Saturday.
He said, “We are working to plant 1 million trees to restore environmental balance in Chattagram with the aim of building a clean and green Chattagram.” The work of beautifying each ward of the city through greening has already started. In addition to the funding of the Chattagram City Corporation (CCC), various social organizations are also being utilized for greening. Mayor said, “Chattagram is known for its natural beauty and hilly areas, so the importance of trees here is even greater. With the rapid growth of the city, it is very important to maintain environmental balance.” The trees in the hilly areas of Chattagram not only enhance the beauty of the environment, but also play an important role in preventing soil erosion, floods and landslides. Especially protecting the forests and green areas around the city, planting trees in the river and seashore areas, these initiatives will help improve the environment and livability of Chattagram.
