Two cases have been filed in the names of at least 92 people including former president Abdul Hamid’s sister ex-upazila chairman Achia Alam, his brother upazila Awami League president Principal Abdul Haque Nuru and nephew Union Parishad (UP) chairman Sharif Kamal in two cases in Mitamoin of Kishoreganj.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) in Mitamoin Police Station, Ahsan Habib confirmed the matter. Earlier, on Sunday afternoon, Mitamoin’s Jubo Dal Convener Imran Hossain Jerry and upazila BNP president Zahidul Alam Jahangir’s nephew Farhan Sikder filed two cases in Mitamoin Police Station under the Explosive, Assault, Vandalism and Looting Act.
The two cases have been filed against Awami League leaders and activists in the victory procession of BNP leaders and activists at Mithamain in Kishoreganj on August 5. Mitamoin Police Station OC, Ahsan Habib told the New Nation that, a case has been filed against the names of the former president’s brothers, sisters and nephews. No one has been arrested yet. 47 people were named in the first case and 45 in the second case.
According to the details of the case, the leaders and activists of Mithamain Upazila BNP and other organizations took out a joyous procession on the news of the escape of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the face of student movement on August 5.
