Six corruption cases involving 100 individuals—including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina—over alleged irregularities in the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project have been forwarded to the special judge’s court for trial.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order after the accused failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons.
Earlier, on July 1, the court directed the publication of a gazette notification summoning all 100 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy. The court had also fixed July 20 for submitting the compliance report.
Previously, arrest warrants had been issued against the accused on May 25, with a directive to submit a report on their execution by June 17.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the six cases between January 12 and 14, 2025. Charge sheets in all cases were submitted on March 10.
Details of the Cases:
January 14: ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin filed a case against eight people including Sheikh Hasina for misusing authority to obtain a 10-katha plot. The charge sheet later included 12 individuals.
January 14: ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan filed another case against 15 people, including Sheikh Hasina and Sajeeb Wazed Joy. The charge sheet named 17 accused.
January 13: Salahuddin filed a case against 15 individuals, including Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and daughters Tulip and Azmina Siddiq. The charge sheet listed 17 names.
January 13: Another case was filed against 16 people, including Hasina, Tulip, and Azmina, with the final charge sheet naming 18.
January 13: A separate case was lodged against Radwan Mujib Siddiq and 15 others. The charge sheet included 18 accused.
January 12: ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed a case against 16 individuals including Sheikh Hasina and Saima Wazed Putul. The charge sheet listed 18 people.
All six cases are now scheduled for hearing at the Special Judge’s Court as the trial process formally begins.
