Case filed against Abdul Latif Bachchu, summons issued

The court has ordered a stay on the election ceremony of Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association (BFDA). Regardless of that ban, elections for a new term were held at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unit on May 9.
Therefore, the court ordered a stay of all activities and results
of that election.
On May 12, the senior judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Court gave this order.
Along with this, a case and summons have been issued against Election Commission Chairman Abdul Latif Bachchu for violating a court order.
Film director and
former leader of the organisation Badiul Alam Khokon file a case in court for violating the constitution and holding elections.
The court ordered the postponement of the elections on May 8.
While talking in this regard, chairman of the election commission, Abdul Latif Bachchu said he did not receive any ban papers until 5:00pm on May 8. Therefore, the
election was not postponed.
It is learned that on the evening
of May 8, the court issued a stay order on the election of the
board of directors.
Dhaka Judge Court senior lawyer Farhad Hossain Neon said that
the issuing court had gone to Abdul Latif Bachchu’s house
and delivered the stay order.
It should be noted that Shahin Sumon was elected as the president and Shahin Kabir Tutul as the
secretary general in the
elections of the BFDA.
