ACC filed a case against 15 people including upazila social service officer for embezzlement of Tk 1 crore 28 lakh 88 thousand.

Faridpur district office ACC has filed a case under various sections of 1860 and Prevention of Corruption Act of 1947, accusing 15 people including Madukhaliupazila social service officer Kallol Saha of embezzling Tk 1 crore 28 lakh 88 thousand in Faridpur.

ACC Deputy Assistant Director of Faridpur Imran Akon yesterday filed the case in Faridpur district office of ACC as plaintiff.

It is stated in the statement of the case that the accused falsely showed orphans in the audit report and inspection report and falsely showed more orphan students than the actual number of orphan students for unfair gain and greed.

Taking shelter of abuse and fraud they embezzled one crore 28 lakh 88 thousand taka allocated in favor of 7 orphanages from July to December of 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 financial years.

Besides, upazila social service officer Kallol Saha and upazila assistant social service officer Babul Akhtar Mollah being public servants have committed an offense punishable.

As the crime was prima facie proved, the inquiry report was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission for approval, recommending the filing of the case against the accused.

On review of the submitted investigation report, the Anti-Corruption Commission, Head Office, Dhaka approved the filing of a case (statement) against the said defendants on October 18.

Accused upazila assistant social service officer Babul Akhtar Molla said, “After the donation of the orphanage, if the concerned institution submits the bill voucher to us, we countersign it.”

Sonali Bank Madukhali Upazila Complex branch has an account called Private Capitation Grant Account which is managed by the Upazila Social Service Officer.

After submitting the bill, we issue the account-pay check in the name of the self-organization. We have nothing to do with it. It is a matter of madrasa committee.

Madukhali Upazila Social Service Officer Kallol Saha told the New Nation about the complaint that Assistant Social Service Officer Md. Babul Akhter Mollah used to serve the matter.

I have taken measures to freeze donations against some orphanages due to complaints about donations. Babul Akhtar Mollah retired on October 3. He has family disputes with his brothers over various issues.
