To prevent the spread of thalassemia disease in the country, it is imperative that the government takes steps to enact pre-marriage blood test laws.
This call was made from the program organised by Thalassemia Service Centre Bangladesh on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day on May 8. Speakers in the event said that Thalassemia is spreading rapidly in the country. The government has taken many steps to improve the health system in the country. It would be a landmark step if compulsory pre-marriage blood test legislation is enacted to curb the spread of thalassemia.
On the occasion of Thalassemia Day, Thalassemia Seva Kendra Bangladesh organized free medicine distribution and discussion meeting among poor patients. Principal Shimul Barua, member of Chattogram Education Board’s management committee, was the chief guest. President of the organisation journalist Helal Uddin Chowdhury presided over the discussion meeting.
