Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today urged the country’s youth to devote their talent, energy, and creativity to national progress.

“I call upon every youth to contribute to society and the country with your talent and innovative spirit. Let your success inspire others, not remain confined to personal gain,” he said at the Youth Volunteer Award 2025 ceremony organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Shapla Hall.

This year, 12 young people received the award for their exceptional voluntary service.

Prof Yunus said he firmly believes that when youth remain active, no national challenge will remain unresolved. “Today we are celebrating the power of youth. They are the nation’s driving force, and with their energy and innovation, no obstacle can hold us back,” he added.

At the outset, the chief adviser expressed his delight to attend the event, thanked the ministry for organizing it, and congratulated the awardees. He noted that Bangladeshi youth are now playing leading roles in healthcare, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, and social justice-far beyond the education sector. “They led the 2024 uprising and have shaped the nation’s history through the ages,” he said.

Prof Yunus reminded the audience that new challenges-whether in health, education, or the environment-will keep arising. “We must not be disheartened but confront them with unity and strength. I believe our youth will lead this struggle too.”

He stressed that voluntary service builds character, leadership, and self-development. “We want our youth to emerge not only as volunteers but as policymakers, innovators, and architects of change. This requires confidence, skills, and leadership qualities,” he observed.

Calling the volunteer award a “clarion call,” he said it should encourage young people to embrace leadership and pursue new ideas for the welfare of society. Even small youth initiatives, he said, can save thousands of children in healthcare, uplift education, and protect the environment for future generations.

Acknowledging the hardships of voluntary work, Prof Yunus said, “The path is not smooth-it demands time, resources, and mental strength. But it also builds patience, tolerance, and resilience.”

He urged the youth to become pioneers of new policies, revolutionary ideas, and social transformation. “Through your collective effort, Bangladesh will stand tall as a developed, humane, and innovative nation.”

Concluding, he warmly congratulated the award winners on behalf of himself, the state, and the nation.
