Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has called on Kuwaiti investors to invest in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and to participate in the Bangladesh Investment Conference, which will be held in Dhaka from April 7 to 9.

The requests came when the newly appointed Kuwaiti Ambassador Ali Tuniyan Abdul Wahab Hamadah paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka on Sunday.

During the meeting, Yunus said, “Bring Kuwaiti investors to the investment conference. It will be a great opportunity for both countries.”

During the meeting, they emphasised the importance of investment, energy, food security, and migrant welfare, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening diplomatic, trade, and economic relations.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Chief Adviser reiterated the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait and called for further cooperation in key sectors.

Professor Yunus mentioned, “Kuwait and Bangladesh have been long-time friends. There are many investment opportunities here, especially in the halal food industry, which is a promising sector.

The global market for halal food is huge. I encourage you to involve the youth in this initiative.”

Ambassador Hamadah expressed full support for Bangladesh’s interim government on behalf of the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the people of Kuwait.
“We are eager to work together,” he said.

Both sides discussed increasing the import of crude oil to Bangladesh, which would help meet the country’s growing energy demands.

The Chief Adviser called on Kuwait to invest in setting up a joint venture crude oil refinery in Bangladesh and suggested exploring collaboration opportunities in renewable energy projects.

Professor Yunus emphasised ensuring better working conditions for Bangladeshi workers, especially female workers, in Kuwait.

He also praised the strong defence cooperation between the two countries and the professionalism of Bangladeshi military personnel working in Kuwait.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening economic and diplomatic relations.
The Chief Adviser stated, “Our partnership is built on mutual respect and cooperation.

We are committed to expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and other areas.”
