Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday encouraged Bhutan to make full use of Bangladesh’s available infrastructural facilities, noting the potential for broader bilateral cooperation.
He made the remarks during a courtesy call by Bhutan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee, at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka.
Ambassador Dorjee conveyed greetings from the Prime Minister of Bhutan and expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s continued support, particularly in areas such as medical education and the proposed Bhutanese Special Economic Zone in Bangladesh.
She also reaffirmed Bhutan’s interest in deepening engagement with Bangladesh across multiple sectors.
Praising the historical friendship and strong bilateral ties, the Chief Adviser underscored the importance of people-to-people contact, especially among the youth. He encouraged cultural exchanges to foster mutual understanding and connection.
Professor Yunus also reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to the spirit of regional cooperation under SAARC.
Welcoming the ambassador, the Chief Adviser assured her of full support and expressed hope that relations between the two nations would grow even stronger during her tenure.
