Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has instructed all concerned authorities to ensure complete readiness for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election by December, with special focus on law and order and security arrangements.

The directive was announced during a press briefing held Wednesday evening at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, addressed the media following a nearly two-hour high-level meeting on election preparedness.

“The Chief Adviser has issued several key instructions, the foremost being that all election-related security measures must be finalized by December,” said Shafiqul Alam. “This includes the recruitment of 17,000 new personnel across law enforcement agencies such as the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Coast Guard.”

He added that the recruitment and training of these personnel are expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe to ensure a secure and peaceful electoral environment.

Highlighting concerns over pre-election unrest, the Chief Adviser has also directed law enforcement agencies to strictly uphold the rule of law in the months leading to the election.

In a major security move, it was announced that all polling centres across the country will be brought under CCTV surveillance, allowing real-time monitoring to deter irregularities and enhance transparency.

The press conference was convened by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing to inform the public about the latest progress on election preparations and reaffirm the administration’s commitment to holding a free, fair, and peaceful election.
