Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday has initiated discussions with ambassadors from 27 European Union (EU) countries. The meeting is being led by Michael Miller, the head of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, on behalf of the 27 nations.
The meeting began around 12pm on Monday at the Chief Advisor’s Office in Tejgaon.
On Thursday, Public Diplomacy Department Director General Rafiqul Islam said in a briefing that the chief advisor would meet with ambassadors from 27 European Union countries as well as an additional nation’s ambassador on Monday.
He said, “The discussion would focus on key issues such as the challenges of climate change and the Rohingya crisis. Additionally, there would be an open dialogue on the relationship between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
“A request had been made to explore alternative ways of issuing visas for certain European countries like Finland and Romania, as some people were unable to travel to India to obtain visas in person. However, due to their own policies, various European countries did not agree to alternatives and required in-person visits to New Delhi for visa processing.”
