Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to empowering young people through skills development and employment generation, aiming to build a more equitable and progressive Bangladesh.

In a message issued on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, observed annually on 15 July, Professor Yunus said the government formed through the July uprising is determined to turn the nation’s youth into valuable assets by equipping them with modern skills and creating meaningful employment opportunities.

“To accelerate national development, meet the evolving demands of our industrial sector, and increase the number of Bangladeshi workers in the international job market, we must prioritise the creation of a skilled workforce,” he stated.

Highlighting the importance of keeping pace with global shifts, Professor Yunus stressed the need to harness modern technology to transform the country’s youth into skilled human capital.

Referring to the 2025 World Youth Skills Day theme set by UNESCO-UNEVOC, ‘Empowering Youth through Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills’, he remarked that the theme is “highly relevant and timely.”

He expressed his best wishes for the successful observance of the day and the programmes undertaken to mark the occasion.
Professor Yunus noted that the government has already launched several initiatives to provide youth training aligned with both domestic and global labour market needs.

“These efforts will not only support local industries but also enhance Bangladesh’s competitiveness in exporting skilled manpower abroad,” he said.

The Chief Adviser underscored the role of the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), which is working with both public and private stakeholders to establish a comprehensive skills development ecosystem.

He called for greater momentum in strengthening the NSDA’s efforts to build a capable and future-ready workforce.

“To build a modern, forward-looking Bangladesh, we must nurture youth who are adaptable, entrepreneurial, and equipped for a rapidly evolving job market,” he added.

Looking ahead, Professor Yunus expressed hope that World Youth Skills Day 2025 would further raise awareness about the importance of youth skills development and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
