In an astounding move, global electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD, headquartered in Shenzhen, is preparing to launch its first car in Bangladesh by March next year, signaling a major shift in the country’s automotive landscape.
The debut will showcase the BYD Seal, a premium electric sedan set to compete in the upscale segment, equipped with a rapid 40-minute full charge capability using a fast charger and a range of up to 540 kilometers.
Operated by CG-Runner Bangladesh, a collaboration between Nepal’s Chowdhury Group and local pioneer Runner Group, details surrounding the EV venture remain confidential.
Confirmation of the BYD distributorship agreement and the completion of recruitment for the Bangladeshi operation have emerged from insider sources and various media sources, with active training underway in anticipation of the impending launch.
The iconic Haque Building in Dhaka’s Tejgaon, previously home to Runner’s flagship showroom, is undergoing a significant transformation to house BYD’s inaugural showroom, complemented by an advanced service center nearby.
