With effect from August 3, 2025, Engineer Md. Mahbubur Rahman has been appointed Additional Director General (East Region) of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB). Prior to this, he was serving as the Chief Engineer (Civil), Northern Region, BWDB, Rangpur.
In 1991, Engineer Rahman graduated from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In 1993, he started working for the Board as an Assistant Engineer (Civil).
In entire career life, he has held a number of significant roles, including Chief Engineer, Executive Engineer, Sub-Divisional Engineer, Superintending Engineer, and Additional Chief Engineer in various crucial Board offices.
In order to apply the knowledge he has gained to his work in water development projects and administration, he has attended professional seminars and training programs in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Italy. Engineer Rahman was born in Kurigram district in 1967 into a well-respected Muslim family.
