After recently holding talks with the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer, a group of business leaders sat with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday.
The discussion took place at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, the party confirmed in a Facebook post.
An 11-member team, led by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, joined the meeting.
Business leaders earlier explained that their outreach is part of a wider initiative to engage with major political stakeholders. They emphasized that the dialogue was not partisan in nature but focused on key economic concerns.
Issues such as easing business operations, the challenges surrounding Bangladesh’s graduation from LDC status, and the ongoing labour law reforms were highlighted.
This meeting with the BNP leadership came shortly after a similar session between industry representatives and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr Shafiqur Rahman on 15 September, which drew significant attention.
Jamaat, in a Facebook post following that encounter, noted that the discussion revolved around Bangladesh’s industrial prospects, new investment opportunities, overall business climate, and pressing issues like the Labour Act 2025.
