Staff Correspondent :

On Monday morning, police intercepted 10-12 buses heading from Bandar in Narayanganj to the national press club in Dhaka, where a protest organised by “Nonviolent Mass Uprising Bangladesh” was scheduled. The buses were detained with the help of local residents at locations like Dari Sonakanda, Farajikanda, Madanganj, Ispahani, and Kuripara. Confirming the incident, Bandar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam stated that the buses are under investigation, and further details will be disclosed later.

Reports indicate that members of the organisation had gathered at various locations in Bandar to travel to Dhaka for the protest. However, observing the gathering, local residents informed the police, leading to the buses being stopped. The police then detained the buses and sent the activists back home.

In addition, security checkpoints have been set up by law enforcement on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Narayanganj. Officers are stopping Dhaka-bound vehicles and conducting passenger searches amid concerns about plans to bring people into the capital to create disruptions.
