Satya Prasad Majumder has resigned from his position as Vice-Chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Majumder submitted his resignation letter on Sunday to the Secretary of the University Chancellor and the Education Secretary.
Mohammad Al Amin Siddik, Director of the BUET Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), confirmed the resignation to bdnews24.com.
In his resignation letter, Majumder stated, “I have collaborated with teachers, students, officers, and employees to enhance the university’s education and research, as well as to uphold the reputation of BUET.
I have now resigned from the position of Vice-Chancellor due to personal reasons.”
Majumder, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was appointed as Vice-Chancellor on 25 June 2020 and was reappointed for a second term on 3 July.
He resigned amid student protests and following the political upheaval resulting from the recent mass uprising.
