Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :
The railway line is bending due to the ongoing intense and very intense heat wave sweeping over Ishwardi and surrounding areas. Apart from reducing the speed of the train, there is a danger of train accident at any moment if one is not careful. Meanwhile, on April 25, the railway line was bent near Abdulpur station of Pakshi division of the railway and near Ishwardi bypass station on Friday (April 26). On Friday, the Rajshahi-bound inter-city Kapotaksha train was diverted through another line after being held up for almost an hour. Trains started running after the railway employees poured water on the track for about two hours to reduce the heat and normalize the derailment.
Shubo Hossain, a local laborer working at Ishwardi Bypass Station, said that after leaving Ishwardi Station, the railway line appeared to be curved from a distance before the Kapotaksh train came near Ishwardi Bypass Station. Later, the transport officer and assistant engineer of the divisional railway rushed to the spot and arranged for the train to pass through another railway line.
Bypass station master Taulad Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the railway line was bent about 25 feet in the intense sun. Later, after railwaymen poured water on the track to bring down the temperature, the railway track became normal.
Nasir Uddin, Commercial Officer of Pakshi Divisional Railway, said that due to severe and extremely severe temperatures, the railway line bent at Abdulpur station on Thursday and near Ishwardi bypass station on Friday. This caused temporary difficulties. Later, with the help of engineers, the issue was resolved by pouring water into the line.
Birbal Mandal, Engineer-2 of Pakshi Division, said that there have been cases of bending of railway lines in some places due to the ongoing intense and extremely intense heat waves. Railway iron temperature rises by 15-20 degrees centigrade above ambient temperature. The iron rails of the railway line can withstand temperatures up to 50 degrees centigrade. But due to the ongoing extreme heat wave, the temperature of the iron rails has reached 57 degrees centigrade, causing the line to bend. In some cases the bends return to normal levels after pouring water. But if there is too much bending, the bent part is cut off and rejoined. In the current situation, instructions have been given to run the train with caution and slow down the speed during the hot sun during the day, he said.
