BU students announce complete shutdown demanding removal of VC

Agitated students of Barishal University have announced a complete shutdown, including a suspension of classes, from Monday demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor.
The students also wrote open letter to the teachers of every department of the university announcing their decision on Monday.
Earlier a torchlight procession was held on the campus on Sunday night to make the shutdown programme successful .
The open letter titled “Open Appeal to All Respected Teachers of Barishal University” issued by the ongoing movement demanded the resignation of the autocratic and corrupt Vice Chancellor.
It states that the ongoing movement for the past 26 days to establish the just rights of the students has reached the 1 (one) demandpoint for the resignation of this unprofessional, litigious, and incompetent Vice Chancellor.
So the students are united and uncompromising in achieving this demand.
In the meantime, a shutdown has been announced for all academic and administrative activities of the university, except for the scheduled ongoing semester final exams.
As the government has not heeded their demands so far even after the long-standing movement, we have no room to turn back, the students told.
With the spontaneous support of the students in this uncompromising fight to achieve our demands, we have announced an academic shutdown for an indefinite period from May 12, the students told.
The letter further states that we, the teachers and students, are hopeful that we will soon be freed from this stifling environment and return to a creative and dynamic academic life.
Until then, we humbly request you to close all your previously scheduled academic classes in solidarity with the program announced to achieve our just demands, the agitated students requested teachers.
