Masudul Haque of UNB has been elected President and Mohammad Ubaydullah Badol of Kaler Kantho elected General Secretary of the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) for the 2025-26 term.
The election was held on Sunday at the National Press Club in Dhaka.

The results were announced by Chief Election Commissioner and current President of the National Press Club, Hasan Hafiz. Former National Press Club President Kamal Uddin Sabuj and former General Secretary Syed Abdal Ahmad served as election commissioners.

Masudul secured 77 votes to defeat his nearest rival, Fasih Uddin Mahtab of Protidiner Bangladesh, who garnered 70 votes. Notably, in the outgoing committee, Mahtab was the President while Masudul served as General Secretary.

In the race for General Secretary, Mohammad Ubaydullah (Badol) won with 55 votes. His closest competitors-Mehdi Azad Masum received 49 votes and Mohammad Akhtar Hossain secured 41.
Out of 156 eligible voters, 151 cast their votes in this year’s election. Four ballots were deemed invalid due to errors.

Of the 17 executive posts, elections were held for 13 positions. Four candidates were elected unopposed: Jharna Roy as Joint Secretary, Goutam Chandra Ghosh (BanglaNews24) as Office Secretary, Faruk Alam (Alokito Bangladesh) as Publicity and Publication Secretary, and Habibur Rahman (Panchayet Habib, Inqilab) as Training and Research Secretary.

Other elected office bearers include: Vice President: Mainul Hossain Pinnu (Green TV), Organizing Secretary: Mahmud Akash (Janakantha), Finance Secretary: M H Robin.

The eight elected Executive Committee Members are: Md. Robiul Islam (78 votes), Tofazzal Hossain (74), Asad Al Mahmud (70), Muhammad Abdul Matin (Matin Abdullah) (69), Ainal Hossain (62), Md. Rakib Hasan (55), Shafiqul Islam (53), Md. Rezaur Rahim (42) BSRF is a prominent platform for journalists covering the Bangladesh Secretariat, playing a vital role in upholding professional standards and ensuring media rights.
