Sylhet Bureau :
Another push-in incident has occurred at the Lalakhal border in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet.
On Thursday, 26 June 2025, at approximately 7:45 pm, a patrol team of Lalakhal BOP under the Zakiganj Battalion (19 BGB) arrested 14 Rohingya citizens from a place called Bagchhara.

According to BGB sources, these Rohingyas were allowed to enter Bangladesh about 50 yards from the main pillar 1301 of the border adjacent to the 4/Jaliakhola BSF camp in India. BGB members on border patrol immediately identified the matter and conducted a drive and arrested them.

Initial interrogation of the detainees revealed that they are all forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals, identified as FDMN (Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals). The detainees include 4 men, 4 women, 3 boys and 3 girls.

In this regard, Lt. Col. Mohammad Zubair Anwar, PSC, Commander of Zakiganj Battalion (19 BGB), said, “BGB is always vigilant to protect the security and sovereignty of Bangladesh’s border. Our patrol system has been strengthened to prevent Rohingya push-ins across the border and we are in regular contact with Indian border guards.”

He further said that after verifying the correct identity of the detainees, steps are being taken to hand them over to the nearest police station through legal process. In addition, surveillance has been further increased in the border area to prevent infiltration in the future.

The sources concerned said that it was possible to avoid undesirable situations due to the quick action and disciplined activities of the BGB.
