Md. Mahmudul Haque, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), has applied for bail in a murder case filed 10 months after a man died of a heart attack while allegedly being chased by police.
The bail petition was submitted around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday (June 22) at the court of Judge Md. Soyebur Rahman of Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 (Hazirhat Amli Adalat).
Following initial arguments from the defense counsel, the judge scheduled the hearing for Tuesday (June 24).
Mahmudul Haque’s lawyer, Advocate Shamim Al Mamun, said that the plaintiff in the case in which Mahmudul Haque has been made an accused is not aware of this. The case and arrest of the teacher who protested after the murder of Abu Sayeed and his arrest are against the spirit of July.
