A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and the Begum Rokeya Memorial Centre in Payrabandh, Rangpur.
On Tuesday, at the Syndicate Hall of the university’s administrative building, the MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali, on behalf of the university, and by Director General of Bangla Academy, Professor Dr. Mohammad Azam, on behalf of the Begum Rokeya Memorial Centre.
The agreement will open new avenues for coordinated research on Begum Rokeya’s ideals, literature, social reform initiatives, and free-thinking philosophy.
It will also strengthen collaboration between the two institutions in publications, joint seminars and symposiums, access to archives and databases, and research-based publications.
The event was attended by University Grants Commission (UGC) member Professor Dr. Mashuma Habib, Vice-Chancellor of Gopalganj University of Science and Technology Professor Dr. Hossain Uddin Shekhor, Head of the Department of Bangla at Begum Rokeya University Professor Dr. Shafiqul Rahman, convener of the Rokeya Day 2025 Celebration Committee Professor Dr. Md. Tajul Islam, Registrar Dr. Md. Harun-ur-Rashid, and Secretary of Bangla Academy Dr. Md. Selim Reza, among others.
