The Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) in Rangpur has formed a 5-member investigation committee into the incident of ‘Joy Bangla’ being written at various places on the campus on July Martyrs’ Day.
The university’s registrar, Dr. Harun R. Rashid, confirmed the matter on Thursday. He said that a 5-member committee has been formed with the university’s student advisor and head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, Dr. Ilias Pramanik, as the convener and Associate Professor of the Disaster Management Department, Abdullah Al Mahbub, as the member secretary.

The other members of the committee are Proctor and Professor of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Dr. Ferdous Rahman, Associate Professor of the Management Studies Department, Masud Rana, and Engineer and Branch Head of the ICT Cell, Belal Hossain. They have been asked to submit the investigation report within the next 7 days.
Earlier, on Wednesday (July 16), the university branch of the Chhatra Dal held a protest march at the main gate of the university at 10 pm. At that time, Chhatra Dal convener Al Amin Hossain gave the university administration a 24-hour ultimatum.
In addition, a protest march was also held at the main gate of the campus late at night under the banner of ‘ordinary students’.
It is known that on Tuesday (July 15) night, various walls of the campus including the university’s academic building, passenger shelter, library, etc. were seen on the walls. It was seen on the spot that the university’s library and academic buildings 2 and 4 are still written.
Regarding the overall issue, the university’s registrar Dr. Harun Or Rashid said that those involved will be identified by looking at the CCTV footage. Strict action will be taken against them.
