Rangpur Correspondent :

Students of Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) held a protest march following the shooting of Osman Hadi, the potential parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-8 and convener of the Inqilab Forum.
The protest march began on Friday, at 4:30 pm from the main gate of the campus. The march proceeded along Bijoy Road in the university and gathered at Shaheed Abu Saeed Gate, where a brief rally was held. Students demanded the immediate arrest and trial of those responsible for the attack on Osman Hadi. During the protest, students raised slogans such as: “Light the fire, light the fire,” “Why attack Hadi? We demand answers,” “Break the den of terrorists,” “Terrorism and politics cannot go together,” and “If anything happens to Hadi Bhai, fire will spread.
to every home.”
Zahid Hasan Joy, convener of BRUR Inqilab Forum and a student of the Department of Sociology, said, “Our Hadi Bhai, who has been a leading fighter against Indian aggression, has been subjected to this despicable attack. The interim administration must take responsibility. We know who attacked him-it is the terrorists who oppose his politics. The administration must answer why they failed to provide security to Hadi, just as they failed to protect the revolutionaries of ’24.”
Mehedi Hasan, member secretary of the Inquilab Forum and a student of the Department of Economics, said, “For a long time, the people of Bangladesh have been unable to exercise their voting rights properly. The interim government announced the election schedule just yesterday. Soon after, we see that Osman Hadi, who played a major role in the July uprising and has been a strong voice against Indian imperialism, has fallen victim to a targeted killing. Those responsible for the attack must be arrested and unmasked.”
