BRUR coordinators criticised for placing sarees, bangles on advisors’ chair
BRUR Correspondent :
The coordinators of Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) in Rangpur have come under fire for placing saris and bangles on the chairs of student advisors and proctors.
On Sunday (July 20), at 5 pm, Ashiq, Sumon, Arman, Bangladesh Gakhtarantik Chhatra Sangsad (BGCS) Rangpur Metropolitan Member Secretary Hajimul Haque and Rangpur District Committee Spokesperson Rummanul Islam Raj placed saris and bangles on the chairs of the proctors and student advisors.
They alleged that even though partisan student politics is banned on the campus, Chhatra Dal and Shibir are openly conducting activities.
However, in this regard, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Shawkat Ali, said that I was supposed to sit with them (the students who gave saris and bangles) at 5 pm. Before talking to them about student politics, they are insulting the teachers. They are raising the allegation that there is politics in the university, but where is it? Now if someone does politics outside the university, will we see it? Politics is prohibited on 75 acres. No one can do politics here.
He also said that I stopped politics when I came to the university. No one told me. I raised the issue with the syndicate before them. I formed a committee earlier because students were doing politics on the campus where politics is prohibited. Some people were given a show cause notice there. We are working.
Meanwhile, the Berobi branch of Chhatra Dal protested against the insulting of teachers. At that time, the convener of the branch Chhatra Dal, Al Amin, said that a few named coordinators have insulted teachers by using the name ‘ordinary students’. Not only that, they have also insulted our mothers and sisters. No ordinary student will accept such insults.
