Students blocked the highway in protest after a truck coming from the opposite direction ran over Farzana Rahi, a student of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Begum Rokeya University (BRU) for the academic year 2020-21. She has currently been admitted to Rangpur Prime Medical for treatment.

General students blocked the road in front of the university’s Abu Sayeed Gate on Monday.

It is learned that the accident occurred at 12:30 pm. The students blocked the road demanding a trial of the incident, road management, treatment for Raka and a footover bridge.

Rubayet Jahin, a student of the Mathematics Department, said, “It is very sad. Fortunately, there was no major accident. I wish her well. The administration should take effective steps.

It is necessary to ensure that appropriate legal action is taken in cases of vehicles exceeding the speed limit or going in the opposite direction.”

In the case of universities next to the highway, we should also be careful. Let’s not cause public suffering for now. So that effective steps can be taken in this regard.

Sadia Suchi of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences said, we have to cross this road every day for class exams. Every moment it seems that we will be the victim of an accident, when a car will hit us from behind.
