Following a successful venture benefiting students in Chattogram, the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC), a state-owned transport agency, is set to introduce the Smart School Bus operation for students in Dhaka City.
Initially, the Smart School Bus operation will be piloted for students of Banani Bidya Niketan in Dhaka under the supervision of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). DNCC will provide subsidies for the operation, while BRTC will supply the smart buses.
BRTC Chairman, Md. Tazul Islam, revealed this during a media briefing on Monday at the BRTC conference room.
The meeting aimed to showcase the corporation’s progress during the chairman’s tenure over the last three years.
Additionally, he announced that during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, BRTC aims to expand its transport services with at least 550 buses for homebound travelers.
“Around 600 BRTC buses regularly operate in Dhaka city as part of the city service. With the extended Eid holidays, Dhaka city is expected to experience lower traffic.
