Eminent Agriculturist of the country Dr Md Anwarul Haq joined (current responsibility)as the Director (Administration and General Care) of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute on 9th January 2025.
Prior to that he did his job as the chief scientific officer and department head of Crop Quality and Nutrition Department of BRRI.
Dr Anwar has been doing his job for the last 30 years with sincerity.
He obtained his BSc (Agri Eng.) in 1988 and MSc in 1990 from Bangladesh Agricultural University.
Dr Haq obtained his PhD from London University in United Kingdom in 2002.
He was born at Sahebnagar village in Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh district in 1966.
Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, a distinguished Agricultural Scientist of the country, joined Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) on 09 January 2025 as its Director Research (Routine charge).
Prior to the new position Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam has been serving the institute as the chief scientific officer and Head of the Soil Science Division.
He began his career as a Scientific Officer of the Institute in 1998 and devotedly performing his duties at different positions over the last 27 years.
Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam was born in 1971 at Haluakandi Village of Kamarkanda Upazila in Sirajganj district. He obtained his BSc (Ag) Hons degree in 1992 from the Bangladesh Agricultural University. He completed his PhD degree on Soil Science in 2012 from the University of BSMRAU, Salna, Gazipur. At present, he is one of the senior scientists in National Agricultural Research System (NARS) in Bangladesh.
He has published 80 research articles in different prestigious journals at home and abroad. He has visited some countries including Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippine, Nepal, Singapore and India in relation to his research works.
