Bangladesh Railway (BR) has started selling advance intercity train tickets on Monday for passengers planning to travel ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Assuming Eid will be observed on June 7, ticket sales have been arranged under a special seven-day plan to accommodate the anticipated surge in holiday travel.
As per the schedule, tickets for journeys on June 5 are available on Monday, while tickets for June 6 will go on sale on Tuesday.
Railway authorities have confirmed that, for passenger convenience, 100 per cent of tickets are being sold online this year. Sales for western-bound trains began at 8am, while tickets for eastern-bound trains will be available from 2:00pm.
A total of 33,315 seats have been allocated for intercity trains departing from Dhaka to various destinations during the Eid travel period. Under the current policy, each passenger can purchase a maximum of four tickets per transaction, and all tickets are non-refundable.
