In order to strengthen institutional transparency, accountability and various activities in improving the quality of services and public awareness a training on “Right to Information Act: Reality and Actions” took place at Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Comilla Regional Centre on Tuesday.
The event was presided over by TM Ahmed Hussain, regional director of BOU’s Comilla Centre, according to a press release.
Comilla University Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Chairman Kazi M Anisul Islam was present as a resource person.
The main speaker was Sadiq Mamun, staff reporter of daily Inqilab.
Anisul Islam said: “There is a need for information in every field of life. The right to information is established only when we are all aware. BOU is showing excellent performance in providing this information or service.”
Sadiq Mamun said that every citizen has the fundamental right to know information freely. The only key to transparency, accountability, good governance, sustainable development in the government of developing countries is the free flow of information. It is necessary to develop good relations between the people and the employees of the republic.
At the end of the training, awareness leaflets were distributed among the incoming students and parents along with the right to information banner displayed by BOU’s Right to Information Implementation Committee.
