Papel Kumar Shaha :
We start the day with a cup of tea in the morning.
We can understand how much tea has become a part of our lives.
Tea everywhere has a different appeal.
At the tea table, many big problems come up and are also solved.
Tea circles traditionally still play an important role in society.
According to the information from the Bangladesh Tea Board, tea cultivation started in the first part of the 1800s in Assam and adjacent areas of India.
In this continuation, land was allocated in 1828 AD for tea plantations on the banks of the Karnaphuli River in the Chittagong district of Bangladesh.
But tea cultivation was delayed there due to various reasons. In 1840 A.D., a tea garden was established in the area adjacent to the present Chittagong Club in Chittagong city, known as Kundder Bagan.
This garden also disappeared soon after its establishment.
Then, in 1854 AD, a Malanichhara tea plantation was established near Airport Road in Sylhet city. Originally, Malanichhara was the first commercial tea garden in Bangladesh.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of the nation of Bangladesh June 4, 1957 AD. From October 23, 1958 AD.
He honoured the Bengali nation by being the first Bengali to hold the position of Chairman of the Tea Board.
The ‘National Tea Day’ has been celebrated since 2021 on June 4 to commemorate Bangabandhu’s assumption of office.
Breaking all past records of tea production, a record total of 102.92 million kg of tea was produced in 2023 from 168 tea gardens and small-scale tea gardens in the country.
Which is definitely good news.
We are profiting from the tea industry in the equation obtained.
But what is really benefiting? Are we really thinking of artisan workers in the industry? We can’t give a unique dimension to the tea industry by leaving a class behind by wage discrimination and social isolation! I cannot applaud their work! We can do everything.
The Liberation War is an example. On National Tea Day, let’s be conscious and wonder if morning tea is someone’s blood!!
