Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Like previous years the first morning of the monsoon, Pahela Ashar (first day of third month
of Bengali calendar) was revolved with the sun and clouds to fight hard each other to reign over the day when cultural troupes joined the celebrations marking the
onset of the season at different
venues in the capital.
Monsoon was welcomed through colourful programmes of music, dance and poetry recitations under the banner of Borsha Utsab 1422 at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University and the Nazrul Mancho of Bangla Academy in the city. Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi and Satyen Sen Shilpigoshthi organised the two programmes respectively. At Bakultala of the Faculty of Fine Arts, a soothing instrumental composition of flute and dotara kicked off the
programme. There was a chorus presentation of Tagore’s monsoon number Borish-o dharar majhey, which coincided with light drizzles that welcomed the audience.
Sama Akbar took the Tagore thread forward with a presentation of another monsoon number, Badol diner prothom kodom phul, while child artistes of Notoraj
presented a dance recital
synchronised with Tagore’s
