Colombian striker Rafael Borre scored a second-half hat-trick as River Plate advanced to the Copa Libertadores semifinals with a 6-2 win at Nacional de Montevideo on Thursday.
Borre struck in the 67th, 73rd and 80th minutes as River completed an 8-2 victory on aggregate at Parque Central in Uruguayan capital Montevideo.
Jorge Carrascal, Nicolas de la Cruz and Bruno Zuculini were also on target for the Argentinian side while Carlos Cougo and Santiago Rodriguez netted either side of half-time for the hosts.
The result means River will meet Brazil’s Palmeiras in the semifinals over two legs in January.
The other semifinal will pit Brazil’s Santos against either Racing Club or Boca Juniors. Racing prevailed 1-0 in the first leg of the all-Argentinian quarterfinal tie on Wednesday with the return leg to be played next Wednesday (Dec. 23).
