Boot camp held with farmers in Patuakhali

A boot camp of the care for women project was held on 18th May 2025 under the leadership of AVAS and with financial support of the Gates Foundation.
The project was implemented by the NGO named Street Child Under Care.
The main objective of this project is to identify, implement and establish gender-transformative climate adaptation strategies for women, so that the productivity of women farmers in the villages increases, the organisers told.
For achieving this goal, the project organized and implemented a boot camp with 35 women farmers from 25 self-help groups in Dhulashar and Latachapali unions of Kalapara upazila.
Where they were trained to improve their agricultural skills, increase climate resilience, encourage sustainable practices.
They selecting three innovative farming concepts, provide ideas about modern agricultural technologies, teach organic and sustainable farming practices.
Kalapara Upazila Agriculture Officer Arafat Hossain was present as the chief guest in the boot camp.
While CPP Assistant Director Asaduzzaman and Executive Director of the NGO Rasin, Faridpur Asma Akhter Mukta were present as special guests of the programme.
The boot camp was presided over by AVAS Executive Director Rahima Sultana Kajal.
Among others Imtiaz Ridoy, Country Leader of Street Child, Zahurul Hasan Talukder, Focal and Director Fund Raising of AVAS Care for Women Project, Project Manager Enamul Haque, Advocacy and Liaison Officer of Coast Foundation Md. Yunus, Secretary of Kuakata Press Club and prominent journalists, local NGO representatives, staffs of AVAS Care for Women Project, were present at the boot camp.
The discussants of the programme highlight the concept of digital agriculture and smart farming, create agricultural entrepreneurs and create employment, and provide effective advice and training to increase yields, thereby helping them improve their livelihoods.
The participants of the programme told that through this project, in addition to improving the livelihoods of selected women farmers, the practical application of the ideas developed from the boot camp would also be implemented.
They suggested to introduceclimate-resilient agriculture and labor-saving technologies.
In the discussion, the Kalapara agriculture officer gave the project participants an idea about various modern agricultural methods and technologies.
The agri-official promised to provide all-round cooperation including inclusion of all project participants in various government services.
