Chattagram is a pilgrimage site of history, heritage and revolution. The book fair will play a big role in building a creative, thoughtful, and scientifically minded generation.
CCC Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said these things at a press conference organized on the occasion of Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Chattagram on Thursday.
140 stalls have been allocated for the fair across a gymnasium area of about one lakh square feet. Of these, 74 stalls are from Chattagram and 44 stalls from Dhaka. The Mayor said that to fulfill the desire for knowledge and thinking of the city residents, this fair is being organized with the participation of creative publishers from Dhaka and Chattagram in cooperation with the Chattagram Creative Publishers Council, Chattagram Civil Society, freedom fighters, writers, journalists, educators and leaders of literary and cultural organizations.
Amar Ekushey Book Fair is going to start from next Saturday (February 1) at the gymnasium premises of MA Aziz Stadium. The inauguration will be done by Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Housing, Public Works and Industries. This time, the fair premises will have a beautiful ‘Shaheed Zia Memorial Library’, and for the sake of security, the entire fair premises will be covered by a CCTV network.
There will be reserved seats for the brave freedom fighters at the fair office. The fair will bring together the excellence of culture and thought, as well as history, tradition and culture, with the participation of writers, readers and creative citizens from all walks of life in Chattagram. In addition, the Ekushey Honorary Memorial Medal and Literary Award will be given to those who have made outstanding contributions to national life. The press conference was attended by Chattagram Press Club Member Secretary Zahidul Karim Kochi, Chattagram Metropolitan Journalists Union (CMJU) President Md. Shahnewaz, convener of the Book Fair Media Committee Mustafa Nayem, president of the Creative Publishers Council Shahabuddin Hasan Babu, among others.
