The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has unearthed the involvement of two brothers of Abdur Rahman Bodi, a former lawmaker representing Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency, in money laundering stemming from illicit drug operations.
Aminur Rahman and Abdur Sukkur, siblings of Teknaf’s erstwhile MP Abdur Rahman Bodi, have been identified as players in the drug trade centered in Cox’s Bazar.
Additional Inspector General (IGP) Muhammad Ali Mia revealed this revelation during a press conference held at the CID’s media center in Malibagh, Dhaka, on Wednesday noon.
The briefing was organized to address the confiscation of assets linked to drug lords.
“We will take decisive action against anyone implicated in drug-related activities, regardless of their status,” declared the CID chief.
“We have evidence implicating the brothers of Abdur Rahman Bodi and their associates. If Bodi’s involvement surfaces during the interrogation of his brothers, we will not hesitate to apprehend him as well.
No one will be granted immunity in drug-related cases.”The initial phase of CID’s investigation scrutinized 35 cases, uncovering a multitude of movable and immovable assets, including funds stashed in bank accounts, acquired lands, residences, and apartments amassed through illicit drug ventures.
The aggregate sum of ill-gotten gains in these cases stands at approximately Tk. 178.44 crore.
