Khulna Bureau :
In the interest of protecting Bangladesh’s sovereignty and democracy, an acceptable and universally acceptable election is the demand of the hour, said Azizul Bari Helal, the BNP nominated candidate for Khulna-4 constituency and the information secretary of the party’s central executive committee.
He said, “Despite differences among political parties, everyone must reach a consensus on the issue of elections.
We want a neutral role for the administration. People across the country, including those in Khulna-4 constituency, expect a fair, violence-free election.
It is the responsibility of the administration to maintain law and order not only during elections, but at all times.”
When the countryside is losing its natural beauty in the mechanical age of industry and technology, this BNP candidate from Khulna-4 constituency has taken an exceptional initiative, “One house, one tree is a pledge to make it green.”
He said this in response to questions from journalists at the inaugural ceremony of planting fruit trees in front of his residence at 11 am on Monday.
At the inaugural ceremony, Helal said, “We will not just go to this constituency to seek votes, we will gift each family a fruit tree. I will tell the children of the family – you take care of this tree, grow it.
When the tree grows, its fruit will provide nutrition to that family, and by selling the excess fruit, the family will also be able to achieve some prosperity.”
He said that so far, initiatives have been taken to plant 50,000 fruit trees, and there is a plan to plant 200,000 trees in phases. Through this, every family in Khulna-4 constituency will be made a partner in the green movement.
Azizul Bari Helal said, “Tree plantation is absolutely essential to prevent climate change and global warming.
This program is not just our election promise, it will be a model of environment-friendly political campaign.”
He said that he was inspired by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s “A little effort, a little initiative, will bring prosperity” program.
Tarique Rahman had planted about six lakh neem trees across the country at the initiative of Zia Foundation. We want to maintain that trend.
Politics is not just about speeches, we have to bring change in people’s lives through work.
After the inauguration, Azizul Bari Helal and BNP leaders and activists planted fruit trees in the courtyards of various families in Aizgati area.
The goal is to complete tree plantation in at least two-thirds of Aizgati union by today. This program will continue until the election.
Regarding political differences, he said, “There may be differences of opinion in politics, but we are united for the sake of development and the people.
Elections are not just about competition-they are a test of service to the people and sense of responsibility.”
He also said, “Our goal is to gift the six seats of Khulna to Begum Khaleda Zia. For this, unity is essential, and that unity is still unbroken, and will remain so in the future.”
Azizul Bari Helal said, “We want this program to spread across the country from Khulna-4.
If an initiative is taken to plant one house and one tree in each constituency, then at least one crore trees can be planted. This will benefit not only nature, but also future generations.”
Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Nazmus Shakib Pintu, Abdus Salam, Ataur Rahman Ronu, Golam Mustafa Tuhin, Abul Kashem, Rezaul Islam, Anisur Rahman, Sheikh Abu Sayeed, Sardar Farid Ahmed, Royal, Nayan Morol, Zahid, Mosharef Sikder, Mahmud Hasan and other local leaders of BNP were present at the programme.
