The BNP has called for leveraging advanced technology to update the voter list, moving away from the traditional door-to-door approach ahead of the upcoming elections.

“We advocate for a true and accurate voter list. Instead of conducting a door-to-door campaign, we propose using computing and AI for this task,” said Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, during a press conference at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
He explained that a computerized system could efficiently update the voter list, automatically including individuals who turn 18 and removing the names of deceased voters. “There is no need to manually verify all 18 crore citizens of Bangladesh,” he added, emphasizing that the current method is overly time-consuming, error-prone, and outdated.

As part of the BNP’s 10-point reform proposal, the party has called for modernizing voter list preparation through technology.

The reforms also include amending the RPO, revising election management rules, updating the code of conduct for political parties and candidates, altering the policy for political party registration, upgrading election observation guidelines, enhancing the Election Commission’s capacity, and creating a separate electoral code of conduct for the media.

Dr. Moyeen Khan stated that these proposals, which aim to ensure a fair and equitable electoral process, have already been submitted to the government-formed Election Reform Commission.

“Our goal is to establish a level playing field where voters can genuinely elect their representatives, rather than being forced to choose from manipulated or fake candidates,” he said.

The BNP leader also criticized previous governments for manipulating elections through administrative influence. “We have recommended amending rules introduced by the fascist regime to ensure neutrality among government officials and employees,” he added.
