BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said on Friday that the party will soon finalize and approve a single candidate for each constituency in the upcoming national election.
“The nomination process is already underway. Before long, the chosen candidate in every constituency will get the green signal from the party,” he told reporters at his Gulshan residence while speaking on the prevailing political situation.
According to Salahuddin, BNP has several competent aspirants in all constituencies-some with as many as 10 to 12 contenders.
“We are carefully evaluating and shortlisting candidates.
The final nominee in each seat will be announced shortly so that they can start mobilizing at the grassroots level,” he explained.
He further stated that BNP would soon intensify election-centric campaigns across the country.
On the matter of alliances, Salahuddin stressed that aside from essential issues, no unnecessary disputes should be created that might invite new political crises.
Highlighting the significance of broader unity, he remarked, “Despite internal differences, all anti-fascist parties will stand together in defense of democracy.”
Salahuddin also alleged that the Awami League, “even after committing genocide, has shown no remorse and is still hatching conspiracies against the nation.”
He urged the interim government to bring charges against the Awami League in the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
